Five minutes down Cyrville Road

Pineview is one of the closest neighbourhoods to Star Top Road, and you come in from the top end. Take Cyrville Road west and turn left on Star Top Road. Unit 1 is about 600 m down on the left, before you reach Innes Road. It is 2.7 km and around five minutes, all on city streets.

The address is Unit 1, 1541 Star Top Road, Ottawa, ON. Because it is so close, a lot of Pineview drivers drop the car off on the way to work and pick it up after. Last drop off is 2pm, and Cyrville O-Train station is about 1.4 km away by road if you would rather carry on by train.

Short trips are hard on oil

Most errands from Pineview are short. Groceries, school, Gloucester Centre and back. In winter a drive like that never gets the engine fully warm, so the water and fuel that slip past the rings into the oil never cook off. Brakes and the salt that sits on them

From Pineview you are never far from the 417 or the 174, and highway braking after a winter of brine is where worn rotors show up. Salt builds a rust lip on the outer edge of the rotor and seizes caliper slide pins, so one pad wears much faster than the other. You hear it as a grind or feel it as a pull to one side.
