How much does SA Auto Repair charge for common jobs?
Posted prices before tax are $50 for a computer scan, $55 for a regular oil change, from $100 for synthetic, $20 for a flat repair, $50 for a tire swap on rims, $100 off rims, $140 to rustproof a car, $180 for an SUV, $150 for a tune up and $240 for an Ontario safety inspection.
How do you price work that has no posted price?
Brakes, batteries, suspension, A/C, heat, exhaust, engine work and no start problems depend on the car and the parts it takes. We look at the car first, then call you with a price. Work starts only when you say yes.
How do I book an appointment?

What are your hours?
Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm, Saturday 9:30am to 2pm, closed Sunday. The last drop off of the day is 2pm.
Do you offer service in French?
Yes. The phone is answered in English and in French, and the whole website is available in French.
Do you tow cars?
No, the shop does not offer towing. If your car will not start, arrange a tow to Unit 1, 1541 Star Top Road, Ottawa, or call (613) 744-1521 first so we know it is coming.
Do you do wheel alignments?
No. There is no alignment machine at this shop. If steering or suspension work means the car needs an alignment afterwards, we tell you, and you book the alignment at another shop.
What should I bring when I drop off my car?
The keys, the wheel lock key if your wheels have locking nuts, and the second set of tires if you booked a tire swap. For an Ontario safety, bring the ownership. If the problem comes and goes, photos or a short video on your phone help.

How long does a repair take?
An oil change, flat repair or tire swap is usually a short visit. Diagnosis takes longer, and anything that needs parts depends on when the parts arrive. When we call with the price, ask when the car will be ready and we will give you our best estimate.
Is the $50 scan enough to fix a check engine light?
The scan reads the codes and tells us which system reported the fault. From there we test the likely part, then call you with what we found and the cost of the repair before doing it.
